Tech for D&Iversity 2022
Members of the EdenBase team Nikki Doll-Steinberg and Henry Cook were delighted to attend Tech for D&Iversity 2022, where they met inspiring people, gained further insights into how technology can be used to make a difference in the world and expanded their knowledge on the importance of inclusion and diversity in the tech industry.
Tech London Advocates and Global Tech Advocates returned to Here East to ask whether the tech sector had made progress when it comes to diversity and inclusion, or whether tech companies had failed to address this ongoing challenge.
The hybrid event included entrepreneurs, investors, tech leaders, campaigners and grassroots activists from across the UK and around the world, and showcased the Tech London Advocates Working Groups driving change around D&I related issues in the UK – TLA Women in Tech, TLA Black Women in Tech, TLA LGBTQ+, TLA Asians in Tech, TLA Young Entrepreneurs and TLA Tech for disability.
Thank you to Russ Shaw, Tech London Advocates and Global Tech Advocates for an evening of powerful messages.

Innovation, Diversity and Inclusion
Innovation is all about coming up with new ideas and ways of doing things. It is about thinking differently and outside the box, and bringing together diverse perspectives to create something new. Diversity is essential to innovation. Without it, we wouldn’t have new ideas or ways of doing things. We would be stuck in the same old rut, doing things the same old way.
So why is diversity so important to innovation? Simply put, diversity brings different perspectives and ideas to the table. When you have different perspectives and ideas, you have the potential for new and innovative solutions. Diversity of thought is essential for innovation because it allows us to challenge the status quo and come up with new and better ways of doing things.
When we’re all thinking the same way, we’re not likely to come up with anything new. But when we have different perspectives, we can start to see things in new and different ways.
In today's business world, it's imperative that companies strive for diversity and inclusion.
A lack of diversity can lead to a lack of creativity and innovation, and can ultimately hinder a company's success. The tech industry is no exception. In order to stay competitive, it's essential that tech companies strive to create a diverse environment.
