The Significance and Inevitability of Immersive Technology

Frontier technologies are rapidly smashing through once impossible barriers, solving some of our toughest challenges. Demis Hassabis, the visionary behind GPT, once again demonstrated this when his revolutionary AI won him this year’s Nobel Prize for Chemistry! (Not for AI).

Unlocking the potential of these cutting-edge technologies will require a seamless interface layer that bridges our interaction with them. While bio-computing offers a future where they are directly integrated with us, immersive technologies like XR, AR, VR, and MR currently provide the most effective way for us to engage with these super powered machines. This will require 3D digital assets for everything we know.

Recognising this shift, EdenBase invested in Threedium in 2021. Since then, Threedium has forged partnerships with powerhouses like LVMH, Cartier, Bulgari, and IPG, positioning itself as a key component of the immersive future.

Their follow-on funding round, at 2.5x its previous valuation only 18 months after EdenBase's original investment, confirms that they are leading the charge in this space, with limitless potential to scale.

The rise of the immersive layer is not just vital, it’s unstoppable. Last year, Meta poured over $16 billion into immersive technologies, knowing that a picture is worth a thousand words. It reminds us of Van Halen’s clever ‘brown M&Ms’ visual cue. In the 1980s, the rock legends demanded in their venue contracts there be no brown M&Ms anywhere backstage. This turned out not to be a rockstar whim, but a visual signal that if brown M&Ms were found, their equipment setup instructions hadn’t been followed, considerably risking safety. Similarly, Threedium’s technology will provide immensely powerful technologies an immersive layer to act as the visual interface for ensuring flawless, optimised interaction between us and them running behind the scenes.

Threedium’s partnership with EdenBase has supercharged their growth, enabling

brands like Louis Vuitton and Fendi to create breathtaking, real-time 3D and AR experiences through their Unlimited3D platform. Moreover, a chance encounter at the EdenBase Hub with one of our experts Philippe Van Caenegem (former Head of Innovation, Salesforce) led to strategic alliances with giants like Nvidia and Salesforce, catapulting Threedium into the centre of the spatial computing revolution.

As Threedium scales globally, it’s not just shaping the future - it’s driving a new era

of seamless technological collaboration. At EdenBase, we’re thrilled to be supporting them on their game-changing journey, ensuring that our fund capitalises on these unparalleled opportunities. The future is immersive, and together, we’re making it happen -  with purpose.
