CfC St. Moritz

St. Moritz ▪︎ January 12-14th 2022

The EdenBase team was delighted to have attended the Crypto Finance Conference St. Moritz 2022.

Over the course of three days, opinion leaders and high-ranking representatives from governmental and supranational bodies, the private sector, academia and decentralized organizations exchanged their knowledge on digital assets, blockchain and traditional finance. As a part of a well-structured program, industry leaders had the opportunity to talk about tech trends, regulatory changes and new business developments to connect the traditional and the new world.

DAY 1: Macro-Perspective on the Industry

Panel: CBDCs, Stablecoins and Privacy - Impact for Governments, Society and the Industry

The panellists discussed the effects of CBDCs and stablecoins on our economies along with relinquishing our privacy for the benefits.

The Swiss and UKs progress and position in the field of CBDCS were discussed by Dr Thomas and Jon Cunliffe together with some of the most important questions including privacy, identity and the role of banks in a world of CBDCs.

The takeaway from Eric van der Kleij, panel moderator and Co-Founder at EdenBase is that the jury is out as to whether private money, CBDC enabled private money or CBDCs will prevail.

“One of the huge benefits of moderating such amazing panels is we get access to multiple viewpoints of CBDCs and stablecoins from regulatory experts on the panel.” — Eric Van der Kleij

Day 2: Micro-Perspective on the Industry

Panel: The Critical Role and Potential Disruption of Traditional Finance - Exploring the Importance to Society and the Need to Adapt to a New Playing Field

Traditional finance is still the dominant way of transferring value, however, cryptocurrencies have the potential to become the new benchmark. In this session, the panel covered crypto and its potential to disrupt traditional finance.

Dr. Stephan A. Zwahlen (CEO of Maerki Baumann & Co. AG, an 100 year old private bank in Switzerland) explained their rapid journey to becoming leading traditional bank players, highlighting the difficulties for crypto companies to get a fiat bank for their operations, a problem they are proud to be helping solve.

Micheal Bucella (General Partner at BlockTower Capital) who’s aim to it bridge De-Fi to the real world, shared an insightful pool delegate example with the panel exploring what the concept of “mild adherence to regulations” means to the industry, whilst Adriana Hassan shared details about Figures' merger with Homebridge.
